AASR – Valley of Youngstown

THE FEBRUARY STATED MEETING speaker will be a display and explanation of WWI uniforms and equipment by our Thrice Potent Master S.P. Raymond F. Bishop, MSA.

PRESIDENT’S DAY , Monday, February 17, 2020 we will have a Degree Conferral night with DVD presentations of degrees that will not be in the reunion.  Plan on witnessing the 12o, 19o, 24o, and 31o.  If we have time, we will witness the 29o.  Dress will be casual.

LOOKING AHEAD TO MARCH, we will confer the 4o and 31oDVD at Argus Lodge on March 14th with breakfast at 8:00 am.  On March 28th we will confer the 4o and 12oDVD at Jerusalem Lodge in Kinsman also at 8:00 am.  This will be the last year we confer the 4o as we have for many years and a new 4o has been published and due to its composition, it will only be able to be conferred at a reunion starting next year.

2020 SPRING REUNION:  It’s not too soon to start working on petitions for our Spring Reunion.  Again, this year a benefactor has made funds available so that any current or retired Police, Fire, or EMTs and any Active Military or Veteran can join the Valley for $50.00.  This reunion is named for Ill. George Roman III.  Friday, April 24th the 4o, 14o, and 6o DVD will be conferred, and Saturday, April 25th the 17o, 18o and 32o will be conferred.  Friday starts at 7:00 pm and Saturday at 8:00 am.  Coffee and donuts on Saturday morning.  All degrees will be held at the Warren Temple.  Fees for degrees this year are $100.00.

SUPREME COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS are now available in the Scottish Rite officeThe Supreme Council Abbott Scholarships are now available to any child or grandchild of a Scottish Rite member.  We will still give at least one Hubert E. White Valley scholarship as well. The number of scholarships from Supreme Council are directly related to the amount given by our members to the Blue Envelope Appeal.  In the last 5 years we have received approximately $2,000 to $2,500 dollars each year which we use to give scholarships to children of our members.  The more we give, the more we get back.  We would also like to increase the number of Hubert E. White Scholarships from 1 to 2 but we need to build that fund up from it’s current $14,000 to closer to $20,000 to ensure its continued existence.  Please consider giving to this fund as well.

SECOND DUES NOTICES WILL BE MAILED OUT SHORTLY.  Remember that paper dues cards are no longer sent with your notice.  Several years ago, Supreme Council sent every member a plastic, permanent dues card.  This is the only dues card you will receive.  Contact the office if you don’t remember getting it or have lost track of it.  It is gray/purple and looks a lot like a credit card.
