OPAL CHAPTER #181, OES
Hello Sisters and Brothers!
Well, I hope you’re enjoying the nice weather, I sure am! On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Opal Chapter was very honored to welcome Sunrise Chapter into our ranks. We had a very nice merger ceremony. We were honored by the presence of our WGM Debbie Somerlot and our WGP Todd Evans, their presence made the evening even more special. PGM Jan Goerss, PGM Carol Jones and PGP Trevor Sproul were also present. We welcomed 56 members into our chapter.

We were saddened by the passing of 2 of our members, PM Marlene K. Hillman and PP Ken Kahler. We did the Star service for Ken and helped serve the lunch after. PM Carla has moved into Shepherd of the Valley on Tibbets Wick Road in Liberty, she is in the memory care unit, Room 251.

Our next meeting on June 9th is the Annual Meeting and Elections. At the June 23rd meeting we will be giving Jack Ranck his 50-year pin! We will be on our summer break for July and August. The Opal picnic is August 6th at the Cortland Conservation Club. The theme is garden party. Be there by 5 pm and we will eat at 5:30. Bring a dish to share. Table service and drinks will be provided. Hope you have a wonderful summer, and we’ll see you at the picnic!
