June is here and it is marking the time when many Lodges, ours included, take a rest from their labors for the Summer. However, before we break for the Summer, there are a few more things to finish up.
We went to the Grand Master’s Reception last month and it was a wonderful opportunity to meet our Most Worshipful Brother, Jess N. Raines, Grand Master, Free and Accepted Masons in Ohio. Speaking solely for myself, I found him to be very personal and he genuinely seemed like he was interested in meeting and talking with everyone that he could.
We brought four (4) new Brothers to Light at the Grand Master’s Class last month. If you haven’t met them yet, come to our next meeting and meet our new Brothers! We are currently expecting another three (3) at the June One Day Class. With these seven (7) and the one Brother that is going through traditional, we should show positive growth for the year! Word is, there is another petition that will be in the works for September and we’re going to try to get him through all three (3) degrees as quickly as possible.
We did confer a MM Degree on a Pro-tem candidate but, the previously anticipated MM on June 4th will have to be postponed until the 25th.
Other events coming in June
is the Steak Fry on the 11th ,
our annual “Wild Shirt” night on June 18th., and The Special
Olympics’ Opening Ceremony is June 28th in Columbus at Jesse Owens
Stadium. Let me know ASAP if you want to
caravan down for the Opening.
The 25th District’s Outdoor Raising is on the 29th this
year (not in September!). Breakfast at
8:00 am and Degree at 9:00 am. BRING
YOUR OWN CHAIR!
Our picnic will be June 30th from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at Ali Babba Grotto. As with years past, we ask that you bring a side dish to pass and a dessert. The lodge will provide the rest. We will be awarding scholarships to the recipients at the picnic.
That will finish off the official Lodge duties until September. I am anticipating SW Michael Weaver to be holding practice over the Summer, as has happened in years past.
With the Steak Fry and Family Picnic this month, we’re not going to have a Family Dinner this month. I’d like to keep them going over the Summer, if Brothers seem interested. Let me know via phone, text, or a Facebook page message.
Remember to follow our Facebook Page as events and happenings get posted there as information becomes available. While this new digital format of the Trestleboard allows for year-round postings, unless something big comes up, I don’t anticipate the need for any articles. Should something come up, however, it will get posted to Facebook, also.
If I don’t see you beforehand, have a safe Summer and remember, our first Stated Meeting of September is the day after Labor Day (September 3).
